What to see in Venables

The motte, probably before 1042. View over the water and the meander of the Seine.
The oldest part of the church dates back to the 12th century. The square tower south of the chancel dates from the sixteenth century and the porch to 1722.
The cemetery surrounding the church was abandoned in 1840 and a only monument to the dead is left.
Opposite the church was the priory of Venables whose monks and parish depended on the abbey of La Croix Saint Leufroy. As national property confiscated during the Revolution, it was destroyed by bombing in 1940.
